For many years now, anti-ageing treatments have been used for women and men across the world. Not only is it used for cosmetic reasons, it is also used for a whole host of medical reasons including to deal with acute pain such as migraines, neuralgia or to deal with leaky bladder issues in women or overactive sweat glands. Here at Perfect aesthetics, our Plymouth anti-wrinkle treatments are very popular among those who want to improve their appearance and get rid of unwanted wrinkles as they roll back the years.
Who Can Have the Treatment?
Anyone over the age of 18 can have the treatment however there will be exceptions and clients will be asked to fill in a medical questionnaire prior to treatments to make sure they have no pre-existing medical treatments that could present a risk.
How Does it Work?
Anti-wrinkle injections work by blocking signals from the nerves to the muscles. The muscles then are unable to contract which makes them relax. It’s almost like a temporary paralysis of the injected muscles. The treatment is injected into the area to be treated and then within a few days, the wrinkles will reduce/disappear.
The treatment used is a neurotoxin and therefore needs to be injected carefully. It doesn’t travel, it stays in the site it was injected. It is also not permanent so will wear off anywhere up to 6 months after treatment.
Is it Safe?
Like any treatment, you must have it administered by a qualified practitioner. It is important to choose someone who has trained in delivering the treatment and that can prove their qualifications. Unfortunately, there are far too many businesses that are operating under the radar and aren’t qualified to give anti-wrinkle treatments. The consequences of this can be dangerous. At Perfect Aesthetics, Nicky is an advanced practitioner meaning that she not only does the more common procedures but also a number of other treatments too.
How Much Should I Have?
Everyone is different and what is enough for one person may be too much or too little for another. At Perfect Aesthetics, we recommend starting off gradually with our Plymouth anti-wrinkle treatment. It is better to inject less and build up to the desired effect rather than starting off with a does that is too high.
Nicky is very experienced when it comes to administering anti-wrinkle treatments and, as part of our service, we offer top ups after two weeks. As it can take a couple of weeks to settle, this means that you can get a good idea of the effects of the treatment and whether you need more.
Can I Exercise After?
This is one of the most common questions we get asked. We recommend not exercising or exerting too much energy for 48 hours after the treatment. It is also important that you avoid heavy lifting, bending down or being too active for the hours following treatment. This is so that there is no movement and the treatment has chance to do its job. For those that ignore the advice and go for a run, there is a chance that it won’t produce optimum results.

Does the Treatment Hurt?
The treatment involves injecting the skin of the face, brow and neck, depending on the areas you have treated. It is not a painful treatment however there may be a sting from the injection. We do reduce this by applying a numbing cream to the area to be treated and Nicky has techniques for both calming clients and making the injections pain free.
